The Oregon Network for Education (ONE) collaborative was established in 1996 to develop a one-stop educational mall to inform current and prospective students, parents, school counselors, employers, and others about educational programs and services available in Oregon. The original Oregon Network for Education website, now called Education in Oregon, was instituted in summer 1997. It provides a comprehensive description with links to educational opportunities in Oregon, K-12 through university.

In fall 1998, the Oregon University System (OUS) on behalf of a statewide partnership of educational providers (public universities, community colleges, independent colleges/universities, K-12) received a three-year grant from the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) of the U.S. Department of Education in support of key initiatives of the ONE project. The federal grant enabled ONE to develop the Oregon Network for Education, Oregon's one-stop site for distance education. The site went public in April 2000. Numerous enhancements were initiated between 2000-2002.

Advisory Committee for ONE

An interinstitutional Advisory Committee guides ONE. Each participating institution appoints one liaison to the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee is chaired by the ONE Project Director.
