Search Tips for Academic Terms |
|
If you are looking for a course which you can take in an upcoming academic term, you should select that term (or select that term and other future terms by clicking the mouse while pressing the control key). Courses remain in the ONE database until a campus updates them with a new data feed. Consequently, you may see courses listed for terms which have passed or already begun if you search for a course using the "select all" option for academic terms. If you are curious to see what type of courses might be typically offered in a particular term, you may wish to select a term already finished (or use the "select all" option). If a course has flexible scheduling, as do most correspondence or independent study courses, and a few of the web-based courses, it is identified as Open Enrollment. K-12 schools generally operate on semester terms, but some courses are open enrollment. All Oregon public universities and community colleges operate on quarter terms: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Some of the independent colleges and universities also use quarter terms. Independent institutions in the ONE catalog that use quarter terms are Marylhurst University and Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology. The following table shows general time periods for each of the quarters. Check the individual websites of ONE participating institutions for specific dates.
* Most public colleges and universities have varying summer terms, often including an eight-week (or 2 four-week) term, as well as an eleven-week term. The table gives end dates for the 11-week term. In the ONE catalog, George Fox University and Western Baptist College have Fall and Spring semesters, followed by a May term and a Summer term. |
