Discussion Questions

  1. In looking over the elements of the "Common Vision/Plan," are there topics the sectors have in common that have been left out that you think should be included? Are there topics that you think should be omitted? Could this document (revised as needed) be useful as a "blueprint" for common planning among the sectors for distance education (i.e., with legislators, policy-makers, boards, presidents, superintendents, statewide councils, in grant proposals, others)?
  2. Are there changes in the Oregon Network for Education (ONE) you would like to see made in the last several months of the grant period?
  3. What are issues institutions in the ONE collaboration should address as we move to the post-grant period? What reactions do you have to the Statement of Joint Responsibility among Participating Entities in ONE?
  4. What suggestions do you have for the possible Faculty/Staff Online Center that might be added to ONE? What services/information do you think would be most useful?
  5. What other collaborations would you like to see develop between the universities and community colleges, and/or among the universities, community colleges, and K-12?
  6. Are forums such as the one we held 5/16/01 in Portland helpful – would you like to see more of these cross-sector events planned? If so, what topics would you like to see covered?

  2. What key infrastructure issues (e.g., shared use of networks, scheduling, policies and procedures, priorities, shared sites) do you think are highest priority among the sectors?
  3. What are the ways we can best share networks among the sectors?
  4. Do you think it would be useful to plan shared cross-sector training opportunities for faculty and staff to better utilize systems/networks, etc. What sorts of training are most needed?
